Case Study: AKO Signs

AKO Signs – a leading supplier of automotive graphics and signage in the Southeast – had a huge problem: their data was at risk and they lacked the technology to support their expanding business.

Bruce Williams, CEO and owner recalls the situation:
“We were experiencing significant growing pains throughout our business. Our ‘file server’ was a white box desktop system running Windows 98. We were trying to network about ten computers together and everything was agonizingly slow.”

Athena Technology got to work in June 2003 and created a long-term upgrade path for AKO Signs. Part of that included a server upgrade to Windows 2003 Server, as well as updating their file storage to a redundant Linux system, ensuring maximum availability of data and protection against equipment failure. Athena Technology also updated their security by installing a firewall and VPN, which allowed them to share information between office locations and manage the business from anywhere.

Bruce Williams, AKO CEO says it best:
“Athena Tech has built the foundation we need to continue growing our business. Our employees can focus on their work instead of fixing problems, and we have peace of mind that our company information is safe.”
